Haurat Technology Management Plan
In order to foster higher levels of engagement and critical thinking about the course content as well as develop 21st century job and learner skills, students will be not be permitted to use electronic devices (cell phones, laptops, tablets, airpods etc.) in the classroom. Devices may be placed in the charging station in the front of class.
LIMITED DEVICE USE POLICY: ELECTRONIC DEVICES (PHONES, LAPTOPS, TABLETS, AIR PODS, ETC.) MAY ONLY BE USED FOR THE PURPOSE OF AN INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITY AND ONLY DURING CERTAIN DESIGNATED TIMES WITH THE EXPRESSED PERMISSION OF THE TEACHER.
In order to use an electronic device to participate in class I must have a signed permission form from a parent or legal guardian stating permission and acknowledgement of their understanding of appropriate uses for technology in classroom.
Examples of appropriate instructional activities (WITH TEACHER PERMISSION):
Examples of inappropriate non-instructional activities:
Consequences for Violating the Cell Phone Policy
1st offense: Student will be directed to put phone/air pods away. (Warning)
2nd offense: Phone/air pods will be confiscated by instructor and returned at the end of period;
and Parents will be notified
3rd offense: Phone/air pods will be collected and taken to the Guidance Office.

- Getting or sending contact info and/or assignment info to a group member
- Photographing assignment requirements from the board at the end of class
- Assistance in writing (thesaurus or dictionary) “looking up words” – for ELL students
- When and if the laptops are malfunctioning during group time
Examples of inappropriate non-instructional activities:
- Meta/Instagram/Snapchat/Twitter(X)/Pintrist/Google +/etc.
- Texting/whats app/messaging
- Skype/Facetime
- Video games
- Videos (You tube or similar video sharing site)
- Photo sharing/photographing assignments for the purpose of coping/cheating
- Or any other activity that prohibits you from being fully engaged during the instructional activity
